Gloria Wiernik
Painter

Gloria Wiernik’s jewel-tone landscapes and florals became an instant favorite when introduced to Brion Galleries’ viewers.  Wiernik occasionally uses traditionally pale washes with which watercolor-lovers are most familiar.  She favors bright hues and frequently adds focus, texture  and structure to her pieces with thin lines of white or black.  This technique gives her paintings a stained glass look.  Wiernik also paints on silk.  These batik-look florals are achieved with the use of glue that is washed out of the fabric.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My paintings reflect my interest in flowing, graceful forms and multi-colored imagery.  I seek to create a dynamic as well as harmonious balance of colors and shapes in my work.  Color is what I love about painting.  And, nature is my inspiration.  Paintings enable me to translate my perceptions and energy into a visual language.  I started out painting in oils, then obtain more delicate and transparent results, and still retain enough intensity in my colors and compositions.
